Evan Saddler is a percussionist interested in collaboration between artists from across disciplines and musical genres to venture into unconventional spaces in order to create engaging performances. The first prize winner of the 2016 Black Swamp Percussion Competition and the 2014 Kerope Zildjian Percussion Competition, Evan enjoys performing in a variety of musical contexts including mixed-chamber, orchestral, interdisciplinary artistic collaborations, post-rock, as a dance accompanist, and as a multi-percussion soloist. He has participated in the Bang on a Can Festival at MASSMoCA and the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival in Cape Town, South Africa with the Michigan Percussion Quartet. Evan has performed with AXIOM, the New Juilliard Ensemble, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, and as the drummer with the Creede Repertory Theatre in Creede, Colorado. As an educator, he has presented workshops with the Michigan Percussion Quartet at the University of Cape Town and elementary schools in the surrounding region. In addition, Evan has worked in artistic planning at the New York Philharmonic and as a Production Associate and Percussion Technician on the 2015 spring tour of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble. A graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Michigan, Evan is currently pursuing a master’s degree at The Juilliard School. Aside from music, he enjoys stopovers in Iceland, farmers’ markets, and brewery explorations.
